“Thus says the Lord:
What injustice have your fathers found in Me;
That they have gone far from Me,
Have followed idols,
And have become idolaters?
The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
And those who handle the law did not know Me;
The rulers also transgressed against Me…
Therefore I will yet bring charges against you,” says the Lord,
“And against your children’s children I will bring charges.
Have you not brought this on yourself,
In that you have forsaken the Lord your God…?
Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’
And to a stone, ‘You gave birth to me,’
For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face.
But in the time of their trouble
They will say, ‘Arise and save us’
But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves?
Let them arise,
If they can save you in the time of your trouble;
Why will you plead with Me?
You all have transgressed against Me,”
says the Lord.

The Lord further said:
"I will not remain angry forever.
Only acknowledge your iniquity,
That you have transgressed against the Lord your God…
Return, you backsliding children,
And I will heal your backslidings."

"How shall I pardon you for this?
Your children have forsaken Me
Behold, I will bring a nation against you from afar,
They shall destroy your fortified cities…"

From Jeremiah 16 and 17

Therefore behold, I will this once cause them to know,
I will cause them to know
My hand and My might;
And they shall know that My name is the Lord.

Those who depart from me.
Shall be written in the earth,
Because they have forsaken the Lord,
The fountain of living waters.
